1933 Hupmobile

Ron Smith’s 1933 Hupmobile K-321 sedan is his pride and joy. Ron’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. Louis A. Smith of Topeka purchased the car from the original owner, a Mr. Pointer, sometime in the 1970’s. Ron has fond memories of riding around in the Hupmobile and various other vehicles that his parents owned, including a couple of Model A’s, golf carts, mini-bikes and anything else that would keep a family of seven entertained!

After the senior Mr. Smith’s passing in 1993, the car remained untouched for many years in a garage. Time and mice took their toll on the interior and in 2005, Ron purchased the car from his mother with the idea of getting it back in running condition. Little did he know about what was involved with car restoration, he contacted Ron’s Restoration. Ron Kester picked up the car in February 2006 and eighteen months later, the car had been fully restored beyond it’s original glory.

Ron has been busy sharing his restored beauty with other car enthusiasts at local car shows and parades. He enjoyed meeting other Hupmobile owners for the annual Hupmobile Club car meet which was held in Topeka, KS in July 2008. This year the club marked the 100th anniversary of the Hupmobile.

Hupmobiles were manufactured by the Hupp Motor Company of Detroit, MI from 1908 through 1941. At the time, this model cost $995 at the factory.
